BCS Predictions: 2010 Auburn Tigers
The hiring of Gene Chizik as head coach of the Auburn Tigers may have been met with plenty of controversy and skepticism in college football predictions but it ended quickly when Auburn broke out of the gate with a 5-0 record and finished 8-5 straight up, 6-6 against the spread in college football odds, and with an Outback Bowl win over Northwestern. For many Tiger fans, the highlight of the season was a loss, however, as Auburn had hated Alabama on the ropes late in the Iron Bowl before the Crimson Tide rallied to win 26-21 and salvage their eventual national championship season. The offense is led by spread guru Gus Malzahn as the coordinator, so transition to junior quarterback Cameron Newton should be seamless. The schedule could not be more favorable with the toughest games at home, except for the season finale at Alabama.
