There is a pleasant apartment community located at East Glenn Avenue in Auburn AL called the Cabana Apartments. It is a pretty large complex of buildings, and don’t think of the term cabana to mean “small huts with thatched roofs” because these have no place in the middle of Auburn despite the name. The units are large as rental apartments go, and there are newly-built ones available. There is a central swimming pool which is essential in the AL heat, and even if soaking in the water isn’t your thing there are patios, decks and balconies available so you can at least look on protected in the shade. You can also stay in and just enjoy the central airconditioning.

In the 21st century, the ‘Net is the first place one would look at for apartments in Auburn, AL. The problem is that almost all the listings for apartments or houses for sale or rent in Auburn or in any other place are nice, glossy ads by realty companies. Everything is beautiful, offers the best of Auburn hospitality, is the pride of Alabama, with a nice view and complete amenities in a pleasant and secure neighborhood, and always for amazingly affordable rates. Before the internet one could look at listings in the local newspaper or in the yellow pages, but the situation would be the same, if not worse. How does one separate the ad copy from the real experiences of a typical person-on-the-street who actually lived there?
